TM MOTO STEELS DR JACK – EUROPEAN EMX250 – RD5 – GP OF LETTONIA (KEGUMS)

The fifth round of the European EMX250 was held in Latvia at the beautiful Kegums track. The sandy bottom and variable weather increased the difficulties for the guys in the race.

Meico Vettik, riding his TM, was expected to confirm after the last performances at a track he knows well not far from his home Estonia.
In Saturday morning’s time trials, he caught a 13th time that did not allow him to have a good starting position.

At the start of race one on Saturday afternoon Meico did not get a good start and found himself in the middle of the pack. With a great first lap he established himself close to the top ten right away and as the minutes passed he increased his pace and managed to make more overtakes. At the checkered flag he passed in eighth position, which would become seventh due to a penalty from a driver who had preceded him.

Sunday morning saw race two, which saw him get off to a very good start this time and immediately be in the top ten. Meico tried to push butcould not make an impact during the race as he would have liked. In the end for him an eighth place that remains a positive result.

In the GP overall he finished eighth but the good news is that after five races Meico enters the top ten in the championship standings.

It was his best performance this year at the European Championship and his tenth place in the tournament could be improved in the next stages.

The appointment is for next weekend when the sixth round of this European Championship will take place; the German GP awaits us.

MEICO VETTIK: “In the first heat I didn’t have a good start but in the first lap he made several overtakes, then he kept going and I managed to get 8th place which then became 7th. In race two I had a better start but then in the first laps, I was a little slow and gave up some positions, which made the race a little difficult for me. In the end, I got two races in the top 10, so I am happy. I am 10th in the championship and hope to improve again. Thanks to the team, TM and all our supporters, see you in Germany next weekend.”
