TM MOTO STEELS DR JACK – EUROPEO EMX250 RD02 – GP DEL TRENTINO
The second round of the EMX250 European Championship took place once again in Italy. For the occasion, it was the Ciclamino track at Arco di Trento that hosted the World and European Championship riders. A track that has been on the calendar for many years, the GP del Trentino is also famous for the unique landscape setting that characterises the area.
For the occasion also the patron of TM Gastone Serafini together with some members of the technical staff of the Pesaro-based manufacturer wanted to closely observe our Meico Vettik in action against the best riders on the continent.
Meico started on Saturday with timed qualifying for the start gate, setting a good 14th time just a few tenths from the top ten.
Race one took place in the afternoon, which saw him make a poor start. Meico found himself practically last and recovered to a final 21st position, just a step away from the points zone.
In race two, run on Sunday morning, despite another poor start he racked up a series of overtaking moves and maintained a top-five race pace. It was a pity that his comeback came to a halt in 12th position. But this was a demonstration on his part of a potential still largely to be expressed.
Meico finished the GP overall in 16th place and now occupies 17th place in the championship standings.
Next commitment is already next weekend with the second round of the Italian Pro Prestige to be held at Maggiora, one of the facilities that have made motocross history.
MEICO VETTIK: “In race one the wheels slipped on the gate and I started from the last position, I recovered by making many overtakes but it was not the race I wanted. In the second race, I made a very good start from the gate but unfortunately, the handlebars came into contact with another rider on the start straight and I had to slow down for a second at the first corner I was back again. But in the first laps, I did some good overtaking and throughout the heat, I felt better, especially at the end of the race. In the end a nice 12th place but we can do better. We will try as early as Maggiora in the Pro Prestige. Thanks to the team, TM and everyone who helps us”.
