TM MOTO STEELS DR JACK – GP DEL TRENTINO
17 April 2024
MX2 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP RD04 – EMX125 RD02
Just seven days after the race in Sardinia, the World Championship stayed in Italy with the GP of Trentino, held on the beautiful Ciclamino course in Arco di Trento.
Once again our two riders, Yago Martinez and Brando Rispoli, took part. Both of them arrived in Trentino certainly in better shape than at the last GP, at the end of the day many positive points from the performance of our guys that allow us to continue working much more serenely.
Let’s start with Brando, who, having overcome his throat problems, came to the second round of the EMX125 European Championship with a strong desire for revenge.
Already in Saturday’s time trials he had the fifth fastest time in his group, which earned him a good place at the starting gate. In the afternoon, the first heat took place and he was immediately the protagonist. In fact, he took the lead after the first corner, but soon after a small mistake caused him to lose several positions. In the early laps Brando struggled to find his rhythm, but as the minutes ticked by he recovered and climbed back up to tenth position.
In the second race on Sunday morning, Brando made another excellent start and finished second. This time Brando made no mistakes and was third on the first lap. Then, after also being second, he lost a few positions. He was fourth for three quarters of the race, but was overtaken again with three laps to go, and from then on he controlled fifth position, which he held until the chequered flag.
With these finishes, Brando finished the GP in seventh place overall and is now 14th in the championship with just one race to go.
BRANDO RISPOLI: “All in all a good weekend, although I am not very happy. In qualifying I am improving, I managed to be 5th in my group. The starts were really good, in race one I had a holeshot, then a mistake in the second corner cost me a lot of positions, the race pace was not very fast, after some overtaking I finished 10th. In race two I had another good start in the first five positions, I was fourth for the whole race and I had a lot of fun, I was fighting with those who were fighting for the podium, the pace was good, then in the last three laps I had a hardening in my arms and I finished 5th. This is the first race where I’ve managed to finish both heats, it’s a good feeling knowing that I didn’t race in Riola because I had a fever. Let’s try to improve, I thank Robin Caldelli, Massimiliano Costantini, TM moto, Mario Resti, Ivano Zanatta, the Motoclub Torre della Meloria and my sponsors”.
Saturday’s qualifying session ended with Yago in 19th place. The RAM qualifying race took place in the afternoon and he started in the middle of the grid. During the race Yago showed a good pace that allowed him to make some overtakes and finish in 15th position.
On Sunday, at the start of the first race, he immediately found himself in the top ten, although he lost several positions on the first lap and finished in 13th place. As the minutes ticked by he found his stride and was able to fight his way back into the top fifteen, eventually finishing in 16th place and scoring his first points in the MX2 World Championship.
The second moto started less well, but still in the top ten. This time Yago fought again for more points, and in the end a bit of fatigue set in, but he again brought home more points with 18th place at the finish line.
In the end he finished 17th in the GP and is now 23rd in the championship.
YAGO MARTINEZ: “Finally some light at the GP of Trentino! We took a good step forward with a very solid weekend. Now it’s time to reflect and keep working to improve in the next GPs, thanks to the people who put their trust in me. See you in Cingoli for the second round of the Italian Pro Prestige!
Next Saturday and Sunday Yago and Brando will compete in the second round of the Italian Pro Prestige, which will be held at the historic Cingoli (MC) circuit in the Marche region.
