TM MOTO STEELS DR JACK – GP OF FRANCE – WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MX2 RD7 – EMX125 RD5

22 May 2024

The French GP, held at the Saint Jean d’Angely circuit, marked the end of the triptych of consecutive GPs in which our two youngsters, Yago Martinez and Brando Rispoli, took part.

For Yago it was another date with the MX2 World Championship. In the qualifying time trials he was 21st fastest. In the RAM qualifying race Yago started just above the top ten and from then on he always gravitated towards that zone. He finished the race in 15th position.

On Sunday, at the start of the first race, he was involved in a crash on the first lap. Starting from the back of the field, he made a superb comeback to finish in 18th place.
The second race started much better. Starting from around fifteenth place, Yago set an excellent pace, moving up a few places as the minutes ticked by. In the final laps, when he was attacking for tenth place, the rain arrived and he soon had to do without his goggles. On the last lap he had to slow down and let another rider pass him to finish 12th.

With these results Yago finished the GP in 16th place overall and occupies 22nd place in the MX2 World Championship standings.

YAGO MARTINEZ: ‘Let’s go! P18/P12 in the races, with a very good pace in both. In the first race I crashed on the first lap, threw me and broke my clutch lever, from the last (very last) position I got a good pace up to 18th. The second race had a bad start, but I managed the first laps very well with good overtaking, until the end I was fighting for the top ten, in the last laps it started to rain and the water got into my glasses, we finished P12. I am very happy, another step in the right direction! Thanks to my team and my mechanics for their commitment and to all the people who help me!

Brando started his weekend with time trials to qualify for the heats. Finishing seventh in his group, he earned the races with the best. In the first race on Saturday afternoon he had a difficult start and had to fight his way back from the back of the grid. Brando made several overtakes and finished the race in the points in 17th position.
In the second race he was 15th on the first lap. From there, Brando set a great pace that took him to eighth place at the chequered flag. He finished the GP in ninth place overall. Brando is eleventh in the 125cc European Championship standings after five rounds.

BRANDO RISPOLI: “Another underwhelming weekend. A muddy track where I felt very comfortable, too bad for the two starts at the back, so many hiccups in both the first and second races that I could not show my podium speed. We are looking forward positively, as the speed is there, we will improve the starts, which are one of my strong points! I would like to thank Robin Caldelli, Brian Tiso, Massimiliano Costantini, Giovanni Adamo, Tm moto and my sponsors.

The next commitment for the team is already next weekend, at the Miravalle of Montevarchi the third round of the Italian Pro Prestige will be held. Both riders will be competing in the MX2 class, as will Brando, who will continue to ride the TM 250 2T prototype.
