ABSOLUTES OF ITALY – RD03 – SPOLETO

5 June 2024

MACORITTO AND CAVALLO CONFIRM LEADERSHIP

During the weekend of 1-2 June, Spoleto, a picturesque Umbrian town, hosted the third stage of the Italian Enduro Championships, valid as the fifth and sixth round of the 2024 season. The Spoleto Moto Club, with the help of the Track Inspector For the occasion, Mario Rinaldi designed a route worthy of a world championship race that was as spectacular as it was challenging in which our drivers showed tenacity and driving technique to perform well and conquer the top positions.

The race was inaugurated with the Prologue on Friday evening which attracted a large number of enthusiasts who came to cheer on the best riders on the world enduro scene, immersed in the evocative atmosphere of the historic center of Spoleto.

The race route of the Umbrian stage saw our riders compete with three technical and demanding special tests to be repeated four times per race day and which included a 4 km Cross Test, followed by a spectacular and demanding Extreme Test of 1.5 km and at the end of the tour a 5.5 km Enduro Test. Both the Enduro Test and the Extreme Test were located in the same place as the 2021 Enduro World Championships.

Excellent performance for our drivers. Matteo Cavallo dominated the 300 class, winning both days of competition and obtaining excellent results also in the overall classification. On Saturday, during a fierce fight for the final podium, unfortunately a fall in the last Extreme Test compromised his positive result of the day. Currently, Matteo Cavallo leads the provisional ranking of the 300 class.

Lorenzo Macoritto ran an excellent race, winning both days. During the first day of the race, the Friulian rider recorded the third best overall time at the fourth pass of the Extreme Test and on the second day he fought for the top five overall positions throughout the race, then a fall in the last enduro test relegated him in eleventh position. He currently occupies first place in the provisional ranking of the 250 class.

The 2024 Italian Enduro Championships will return to the track, after a break of more than three months, on 28 and 29 September in Pistoia, for the fourth and penultimate round of the season.
