TM MOTO STEELS DR JACK – GP OF SWISS

28 August 2024

GP OF SVIZZERA – RD17 MX2

The Motocross World Championship entered its final round in 2024. The seventeenth round took place on Swiss soil, at the Frauenfeld circuit where the Swiss GP was held. The weekend was marked by sunshine on Saturday and rain on Sunday, making the track treacherous, especially in the early part of the day.

Yago Martinez, who arrived in Switzerland after being diagnosed with a blood virus, started his weekend with a 25th place in the MX2 timed practice. Saturday afternoon saw the RAM qualifying race. At the start our Yago, along with other riders, was ‘too’ fast at the start and got stuck in the gate. He restarted after a few seconds and tried to make a comeback, but just after halfway through the race, when he was in eighteenth position, he crashed, ending his qualification.

On Sunday, at the start of the first race on difficult terrain, he did not get off to a good start due to some early contact, but managed to work his way up from the middle of the field to finish in thirteenth place. This is one of his best results of the season and, above all, a top ten pace that, with a better start, could have been a great result. In his condition it was a real miracle.

In the second race Yago tried to repeat his success, but after a few laps he had to give in to the fatigue caused by his physical condition. At the moment it is not even easy to see when he will be back to 100 per cent.

After this stage Yago is 24th in the championship standings.

Next up for the team and our two riders is the fifth round of the Italian Pro Prestige at Castiglione del Lago (PG) next weekend.

YAGO MARTINEZ: “It’s difficult to explain, but the best thing is to be honest once and for all. For some time now I have been suffering from a blood infection like mononucleosis, a problem that has completely drained my body of energy and strength! This made my second half of the season a little difficult. But it didn’t stop us from getting good results when my body had some energy, like last weekend when we finished 13th in the first race! The main goal at the moment is to rest as much as possible between races in order to have the energy to bring home the best we can, both myself and the team will never give up and we will fight to the end as we have done so far. I would like to thank you guys from the TM Moto Steels Dr Jack team who work hard every day in the shadows non-stop, I will give my 120% for you! ‘.
