AGUEDA, 3/4 May 2025 – A weekend marked by the rain saw the track of Agueda transform into a trap for all the pilots who took to the track for World Cup and European, including our Julius Mikula and Niccolò Mannini riding their TM.
For Julius in MX2 after the 20th time in the chrono the heats of qualification was held. After a beautiful departure Julius ran the first laps close to the top ten, then on the fourth tour a fall did not allow him to continue. At the gate, for the heat, it had to be deployed in 21st position. In the first heat of Sunday a good result arrived. Starting around the 13th position Julius has been careful not to make mistakes and recovered up to the 8th to the checkered flag. An excellent result consider the conditions to the limit of the track. In the race two his start was not optimal and saw him transit 16 ° to the first step. After recovering some positions Julius stumbled upon a fall that made him waste time. At the finish, after reassembling again, he arrived in 15th position. With these results Julius has closed the absolute of the GP in 12th place and now occupies the 17th position in the ranking of the MX2 World Cup.
Julius Mikula: “Saturday morning the track was very fast and smooth. The bottom was left hard and compact because the rain was expected. Both free practice and the timed were held on the dry, but shortly before the qualifying race the rain arrived and the Portugal GP turned into a race in the mud, just like last year. In the qualification race I was turning around the 12th position, but after a folder I closed. in 21st place. Sunday the track was very muddy. In the first heat I concluded with a good 8th place. In the second heat I had a good rhythm at the beginning, but because of a wrong strategy and tiredness I finished 15th. I closed the weekend in 12th overall. A big thanks to my team and to all those who support me! “.
Niccolo’s weekend began with a nice 5th time in the Single Group Single Trial EMX125 on this occasion. At the start of the first heat Niccolo triggered as often happens to him very well and immediately found himself in third position. After fighting with the first for four laps, a slip made him lose some positions. The rain that in the meantime began to fall has certainly not helped its recovery but in the end especially in the last two laps has recovered well to cross the finish line in 5th position. On Sunday morning in the race two did not start perfectly but still in a good position. Too bad that at the second curve it was involved without having faults in a fall. Started from the bottom, he started his comeback which saw him fall again in half the race again. Niccolo did not give up and managed to go up to the 14th position in prohibitive conditions. At the end of the day in the GP ranking he closed in 10th position and is now 5th in the championship ranking.
Niccolò Mannini: “In the end it was a positive weekend. Considering the conditions in which we ran everything could happen and bring home points to both heats was a good result. After a nice qualification in the race I was fighting for the very first positions when a hitch made me waste time. At the end of the race, however, I managed to go up to the fifth position. Sunday morning in very difficult conditions I had not been able to avoid two pilots. Fallen in front of me and I left almost last.
Next appointment for the Team already in the next weekend, in Lugo the eighth appointment with the MX2 World Cup with the Spanish GP is staged. We will see on the track so only Julius Mikula.
