Italian Supermoto Championship Final in Ortona
17 September 2025
Ortona, September 15, 2025 – The Italian Supermoto Championship final, held on the Ortona circuit, crowned the champions and thrilled the crowd until the very last meter. The day was marked by exceptional performances and spectacular comebacks, particularly in the SM4 and SM3 categories.
SM4 Category: Mattia Rato Dominates and Takes the Title
The SM4 category had only one standout performer: Mattia Rato. The rider demonstrated his superiority right from qualifying, setting the fastest time. However, the real battle came in the race.
In Race 1, Rato was caught at the start by Sciarretta and Morosi, dropping to fifth place. But his reaction was masterful: lap after lap, he made up ground with impressive progression, stringing together a series of fast laps that allowed him to overtake all his opponents. Not only did he win the race, but he also set a new circuit record with a time of 1:00.228, thus sealing the national and international SM4 titles.
The other riders in the category showed great tenacity: in Race 1, Bastianelli finished 9th and Pasqua took an excellent 15th. Despite his crash on Saturday, Casadio fought with determination, finishing the race in 19th place.
In Race 2, Sciarretta started in the lead again, but this time Rato wasted no time. After a brief duel, he took the lead and held it until the checkered flag, also winning the overall championship. Bastianelli finished 11th, while Pasqua was once again in the top fifteen, finishing 15th. Casadio finished 16th.
Mattia Rato can thus celebrate his victory in the Italian SM4 Championship.
SM3 Category: The Comeback of Riccardo Andreotti
It was also a great show in the SM3 category, where young Riccardo Andreotti, galvanized by his recent call-up to the national team for the Nations Trophy, immediately took pole position.
However, luck wasn’t on his side in Race 1, which ended with a retirement due to a puncture.
Despite the disappointment, Andreotti didn’t give up. In Race 2, the regulations allowed him to change tires, but with a ten-place grid drop. Starting from eleventh on the grid, the young rider staged an epic comeback, overtaking opponent after opponent to claim first place.
Another triumph came from Vladimiro Leone’s team, which celebrated the Italian title, won in its first year as an official team, bringing great satisfaction to the entire group.
Vladimir Leone, Team Manager: “An incredible emotion. In our first year as an official TM Moto team, thanks also to Mattia’s exceptional speed, we managed to achieve a very important result, today here at Ortona, which we can call our home race, all our riders did really well, now we still have two important events to finish this season on a high note, I want to thank TM Moto and all our sponsors but also the guys who worked hard to achieve this result.”
