Cas Valk on the Internationals podium! Bad luck for Uccellini
10 February 2026
Mantua, 8 February 2026 – It was the Tazio Nuvolari of Mantua that hosted the second and final round of the Internazionali d’Italia MX. Also at the start this time are our Cas Valk in MX2 and Andrea Uccellini in 125.On a very demanding track again, with lots of rain during the week here too,
Cas and Andrea started the day with the time trials. For Cas a good third place in his MX2 group while once again Andrea set the best time in 125!
Let’s start with Cas who at the start of race one was unable to get away very well and found himself in tenth position at the first lap. Cas did not lose heart and lap after lap he recovered positions until reaching 5th place at the checkered flag.Race two started much better and saw him immediately in the thick of the action in the top four places. For a long time Cas tried to attack those in front of him. Then in the final laps, maintaining a good pace, he managed to gain a couple of positions at the end to finish in 3rd place. With these results Cas not only climbed onto the second step of the day’s podium but also took 3rd place in the MX2 rankings of these Internationals, thus putting the bronze medal around his neck!
CAS VALK: “It was a good weekend in Mantua for us. First podium with second position in the overall of the day and also third place in the Internationals! We are already in a good position but we continue to work to improve! We still have a month to prepare as best we can for the start of the world championship.”
Andrea got off to a good start at the start of the first heat even though some contact during the first lap caused him to lose some positions. From fifth place on the first pass, in just a few laps Andrea grabbed 2nd place even though the pacesetter had now taken too much of an advantage. At that point it was enough for him to control the situation to keep the place of honor until the checkered flag.In race two his start wasn’t the best and on the first lap he finished twelfth. From there Andrea tried to recover as much as possible but first a fall and then a small problem with his TM limited him. Andrea still finished the heat in 10th place. In the overall of the day he finished 5th even though he was tied on points with third, but the result of race two made the difference. In the final ranking of these 125 Internationals, Andrea placed 6th place, just a few points away from the podium.
ANDREA UCCELLINI: “I’m satisfied with the day even if there’s a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. I started well with pole position. In race one I started sixth and recovered up to second position. In the second heat after a bad start I was moving up but on the second lap I fell and then the clutch started not working well. I tried to do my best in those conditions and I finished tenth. It’s a shame because I had a really good feeling with the bike and we could have gone to the podium. I thank the team, TM moto and all the people who help me, see you at the next race.”
In these days the team will decide whether to participate in other races before the start of the world championship set for 7 and 8 March in Argentina. The European 125 will start at the end of March.
