EUROPEAN EMX250 – RD6 – GP OF GERMANY

TM MOTO STEELS DR JACK – EUROPEAN EMX250 – RD6 – GP OF GERMANY (TEUTSCHENTHAL)
It was the Teutschenthal track that hosted the German GP, also valid as the sixth round of the EMX250 European Championship. The hard-bottomed track is a historic facility and has hosted the World/European round for years.
Our Meico Vettik riding his TM arrived on German soil with great intentions but over the weekend a flu virus debilitated him greatly.
However, Meico tried to do his best starting from the qualifying closed in 11th position.
At the start of the first heat on Saturday afternoon, Meico found himself immediately in the middle of the group and regained a few positions finishing close to 15th. From mid-race onwards there was the understandable physical drop that relegated him down to 19th final position.
Sunday morning he started near the top ten holding 12th position for the first four laps. But then the youngster was forced to retire due to a complete lack of strength, too risky to continue the heat in that state.
After this unfortunate run, Meico occupies the 12th position in the championship standings thus losing a couple of positions albeit by a few points.
Now the European Championship takes a break of more than a month, the seventh EMX250 round is set for the end of July with the Finnish GP.
On the other hand, the team and Meico will also be busy next weekend the fourth round of the Italian Pro Prestige will take place in Arco di Trento.
MEICO VETTIK: “My weekend was really difficult because I had to fight a virus all weekend. After qualifying I went to see the track and then I realized that I was not feeling well. The first heat didn’t start very well and I didn’t have the energy to go on at the end I was exhausted, at least I got a couple of points thanks to the 19th position. Sunday morning was no better, probably even worse feeling and zero power in the body. I had a decent start to race two for a couple of laps in the 12th-13th position, but then I had to slow down and went to the pitlane because I couldn’t drive in those conditions and retired. Now I will rest and heal as soon as possible to be ready for the Arco race next weekend. Thanks to the team that has been by my side these two days!”
