INTERNATIONAL OF ITALY – ROUND 2 – OTTOBIANO

May 7, 2024

A warm sun warmed up the second stage of the Internazionali d’Italia di Supermoto which took place in Ottobiano, Marc Schmidt dominated the S1Pro class, a good performance from Kevin Vandi in the SM4.

Marc Schmidt enters this race with the red plate as leader of the standings after the double victory in Ortona, the German rider completed only three laps in the qualifying tests to take home the pole position, Marc only did the laps necessary to preserve the tires for the two heats, remember that in the Italian Internationals the drivers only have one set of tires available, Mitja Krasniqi finishes with the 14th time and Patrick Pals 25th
At the start of the first heat Marc was surprised at the first corner by not taking advantage of his pole position but during the first lap he exploited his speed and took the lead and with an unsustainable pace he took home the victory, leaving an abysmal gap on his rivals. Mitja Krasniqi and Patrick Pals were victims of a fall at the start and restarted in last position, Mitja with a great comeback finished 14th and Patrick 26th.
The second heat when Marc was in first position was stopped due to an accident on the dirt section during the very first laps and the race direction decided not to restart the race.
Marc Schmidt takes home the victory, increasing his lead in the standings.

In SM4 qualifying Kevin Vandi was unable to find the right feeling with the track and had to settle for fifth time, Emanuele Esposito was ninth.
In race 1 Kevin fails to have a good start and loses several positions at the first corner, Vandi with an exceptional first part of the race manages to recover up to fifth position which he will also occupy under the checkered flag. Esposito finishes his heat in seventh position.
In race 2 Kevin was clever to take advantage of the brawl in front of him at the first corner and moved into third place, Vandi tried to keep the pace of the first two but to avoid making mistakes he was satisfied with the final third place. Esposito is seventh at the finish line.

Matteo Andreotti in the SM3 has dominated his category since the tests where he achieved second position overall, the young drivers of the SM3 race together with the more experienced drivers of the SM5, Matteo took home the victory with two perfect races without any flaw of this second round and extends his standings.

Next meeting on May 25-26 in Sardinia for the second race of the World Championship.

Ivan Lazzarini team manager: “What can I say about Marc, he was perfect, pole position and victory, we couldn’t ask for more from him and this victory gives us morale for the second race of the world championship in Sardinia. In SM4 we have to work to improve, Kevin and Emanuele are putting in the effort to be competitive, Andreotti is very good with a double victory, we are happy with this race I would like to thank all the sponsors who support us and the guys from the team and from Tm Moto who work great to be able to achieve these results.”
