April 23, 2024
S1GP Comunitat Valenciana
The 2024 season of the Supermoto World Championship opens on the Albaida track, a very particular track characterized by a very technical and slippery dirt track that is difficult to interpret, the L30 Racing Team presents itself at this event after the excellent performance in the Italian Internationals held last week last in Ortona where Marc Schmidt dominated.
In the timed trials Marc Schmidt struggled to find the right feeling with the slippery track of Albaida and set the third time which earned him access to the Superpole, Erik Provaznik with a good performance was 12th, the other drivers of the team were in difficulty they struggled more than expected, Patrick Pals 18th, Mitja Krasniqi 19th and Nicky Reimer 20th.
In the Superpole Marc Schmidt makes a mistake on his lap and has to settle for fourth position on the starting grid.
In Race One Marc fails to have a good start and loses two positions, Schmidt managed with two superb overtaking moves to move up to third place but unfortunately the two rivals in front of him were now too far away to try to catch them and he had to settle, Erik Provaznik showed a good performance which earned him tenth position, Mitja Krasniqi 16th, Nicky Reimer 18th and Patrick Pals 19th
The second race of the weekend is the Fast Race with a lower number of laps than the first race, Schmidt this time doesn’t make a mistake at the start and immediately takes third place, Marc takes a couple of seconds to overtake his opponent and get to second place of laps, with a clear road he tried until the last lap to get closer to the leader of the standings but by then the gap was too much, Mitja Krasniqi improves his performance with 14th place, Erik Provaznik also thanks to a few too many mistakes is 15 °, Nicky Reimer 18th and Patrick Pals 20th.
The last heat of the weekend is the Super Final which gives increased points for the championship standings, Marc Schmidt lines up in second position as the grid is drawn up on the arrival of the Fast Race. After a difficult start on the first lap, the German had to get rid of an opponent, losing several seconds of delay, Marc was unable to try to get close to the first position and intelligently settled for second place, Mitja Krasniqi 14th, Erik Provaznik 16th, Patrick Pals 18th and Nicky Reimer 20th.
Thanks to the results obtained, Marc Schmidt climbs onto the second step of the podium.
Ivan Lazzarini Team Manager: “A complicated weekend, unfortunately a mistake by Marc in the superpole affected us in the first two heats where Schmidt managed to recover well with a third and a second place. Good performance in the superfinal with an excellent pace but he lost time to overtake and didn’t have the opportunity to get close but starting the championship in second place is not bad also because the season is long, our other drivers performed well but we will try to work to improve their performance.”
